The name of the shortcut went in as "https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/creditcardcredit";  shortcut window will not expand.  Running QBO on my desktop not through a browser.

I had this same problem. Quickbooks Online App in Desktop View. Created a shortcut and the default name was too long. So when you click on the pencil icon the trashcan that should appear next to this shortcut is hidden by the long name. No way to delete the shortcut or re-name it. What worked for me was under the help menu there is "Reset App Data". That got rid of all of my custom short cuts. I assume that it would get rid of any other custom settings that you have made to the app, but I don't know for sure what all it may affect - so proceed at your own risk - but it did solve my problem with the shortcut.

You've come to the right place for help, walt. I'm here to ensure you're able to create a shortcut for your QuickBooks Online company in your desktop view.

It's likely that you've incorrectly typed the address (URL) that's why the shortcut window won't expand.

I recommend adding the shortcut from your web settings. Make sure to log in first to your QBO account on a browser and enter the right URL this time. Ensure there are no special characters included. This way, you'll be routed to your desired page. Here's how:

Note: The example steps below apply to Google Chrome only.

  1. From your QBO account page, click on the three dots icon beside your Profile.
  2. Click on More tools. Then, select Create shortcut.
  3. Enter the shortcut name in the rectangular field.
  4. Once done, click on Create.

 1.  Followed directions, opened QBO in Google Browser, three dots, more tools, create shortcut, named it "credit card credit".  Where did this shortcut go?   I was expecting to add an URL, could not find it in QBO or in Chrome.     I need to undo this if its sitting out there....

2.  Issue I submitted the need for,  I use QBO app on my desktop (not the browser).  I also slide the DESKTOP VIEW to green which changes left side shortcuts.  Here I tried to add a short cut for "credit card credit", its on the +more menu.  I did copy the URL into the name which may be incorrect as it does not take me to the screen to add a credit.   So I'm trying to delete that short cut but its now too long and I cannot get to the icon of the trashcan to remove.  Attached on pic to show what I'm talking about.  Thanks for your response and helping me with this.    Walt             [email address removed]

Hello, walt-wjerb-com.

I want to confirm, did you tick the Open as window box? Once you check the box, you'll be directed immediately to your QBO account. Please see the attachment below:

Regarding your other question, we can minimize or adjust the display setting on your computer. Here's how:

  1. Right-click any spot on the desktop, then select Screen Resolution.
  2. Make sure that the screen resolution is set to 1024x768 or higher.
  3. Select Make text and other items larger or smaller and ensure the DPI is set to Smaller -100%

Once done, minimize the setting of your computer, let's go back to your QBO account and check if you can view the trashcan icon.

For more information about this, please check out this article: The computer's display settings.

You're always welcome to post any concerns you have in this space. I'll be here if you need assistance with QuickBooks. Have a good one.

Hank

Thank you for your response, your post set me at ease that the reset would not disconnect my data which I just transfer a few months ago.   Recorded all previous adds and changes, reset and re-added, the shortcut is gone.

Thanks again,

Walt

Issued was resolved, fix was to record any adds, mods, or changes I made.  Select Reset App Data, this will take you back to a original setup but DOES not touch your data.  Redo the changes you made and you are good.
