Hi there, mrstinaarmstrong.

I'll give you detailed instructions on how to import your QuickBooks Online data into TurboTax.

You'll need to convert your QBO data to QuickBooks Desktop through a trial version. For the complete steps, see this link: Convert QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

After that, import the data to your Turbo Tax. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account and continue to your return.
  2. From the TurboTax File menu, select Import and click From Accounting Software.
  • If you're importing from both Quicken and QuickBooks, import from QuickBooks first.

       3. Select QuickBooks (2018-2021), then click Continue.

      4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Another option is to use a third-party app. Thus, you can import your QBO data directly into your TurboTax account. If you wish to continue, please visit our QuickBooks App Center.

Please check this article to see how your data convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop and what are the limitations when moving between two software: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

If you need further assistance in migrating your files, please feel free to add them below. I'll be right here to keep helping. Keep safe, mrstinaarmstrong.

My TurboTax 2021 has only the import option to import from QuickBooks (2019-2022).

TurboTax returns with an error and then crashes when I select that option.

Can I export QuickBooks PRO Desktop 2018 into a format to be imported in the TurboTax?

Any other option?

I can share some tips on how you can import your data, Adrian-2000.

Please know that TurboTax 2021 can only import data from supported versions of QuickBooks Desktop (2019-2022). Since you're using the 2018 version, you'll want to download and install the trial version of QBDT 2022.

Then, create a backup of your company file then restore it to the trial version. Once you're all set up and ready, follow these steps to import your data:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account and continue to your return.
  2. From the File menu, select Import and then choose From Accounting Software.
  3.  Select QuickBooks (2018-2021), then click Continue.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Make sure that your QuickBooks data file should be saved to your local drive, not on the network or cloud to avoid unexpected errors. Also, you'll have to leave QuickBooks running and keep your QuickBooks data file open during the importing process.

For more resources in preparing and submitting your return in TurboTax, you browse some topics from this page: File taxes.

I'm just a post away if you have any other concerns or additional questions. Have a great day!

@mrstinaarmstrong

Utilize the trial version of QB Desktop to extract the TXF file. Otherwise, purchase a 3rd party service to do so.
