Question

How do I link last year's bank transactions so I can sort through my 2023 spending? It will not let me access before January 14th.

Greetings! @muttsbefantastic. Thank you for posting here in the Community. Let me share some information on linking your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you connect your bank account with QuickBooks Online, it will automatically download transactions from most banks for up to 90 days or more, depending on your financial institution. However, you can also manually upload transactions to QBO. To ensure that there are no duplications and to maintain accuracy, it is best to obtain a CSV file of the month(s) that are not yet in QBO by contacting your bank.

Log in to your bank's website. Then, download your transactions in a CSV file. Once that's completed, we can proceed with the following steps to manually upload them into QuickBooks. After that, here's how to manually upload the transactions:

  1. Go to the Transactions tab and select Bank Transactions.
  2. Choose the tile for the specific bank account to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click on the Link account dropdown and select Upload from the file.
  4. Select Drag and drop or select files and choose the file you've downloaded from your bank. Then, click Continue.
  5. Continue the on-screen instructions to match the columns in the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks.
  6. Choose the transactions you wish to import. Then click Continue to proceed.
  7. Select Yes and click on Done.

@muttsbefantastic

You can use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo @ $60 one time license) as a workaround.
