Question

How do I link my bank account? It says that I am unable to because it is a bank with different currencies, but it is a local credit union.

It's good to see you here, a5grading22.

I'll share some tips to help you connect your foreign bank account to QuickBooks Online.

We will need to turn on the multi-currency feature to easily record transactions without having to fret about exchange rate adjustments.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and settings.
  2. Go to Advanced.
  3. In the Currency section, select Edit.
  4. From the Home Currency dropdown, choose your currency.
  5. Hit the Multicurrency checkbox and confirm that you understand that you can't undo this option.
  6. Select Save.

Next, follow these steps to add a foreign currency account.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Choose New.
  4. In the Account dialog, find the exact Account Type and Detail Type.
  5. Enter a Name and an optional Description.
  6. Select the currency from the Currency ▼ dropdown menu.
  7. Select Save and close.

I'm also adding this article for your additional guide to managing your overseas currencies: Set up and use multi-currency in QuickBooks Online.

Once you connect your bank account, QuickBooks automatically downloads and categorizes your bank and credit card transactions.

That's it! Please keep me updated by using the Reply button. I'm committed to getting you back into the workforce.
