How do I log a refunded credit card payment when they sent a refund check?

My credit card company drafted the entire balance instead of the minimum payment, so they had to refund me the payment via check.  I don't know how to balance that I had to deposit the check back into my bank.

I've got you covered on how to log the refunded credit card payment, @landa0901.

 

You can manually add the refund credit card payment to the bank register. This saves time if you're reviewing your chart of accounts and need to make a quick addition. All transactions affecting your bank balance will be reflected in the check register.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account register you want to review. If you're new to QuickBooks, select See your Chart of Accounts first.
  3. Select View register from the Actions column.
  4. At the very top of the list, select Add Check.
  5. In the Memo field columnenter Refund to easily track the transaction.
  6. Fill out the fields to complete the transaction.
  7. When you're done, select Save.
