Question

How do I unreconcile a statement in quickbooks online?

There were a few duplicate transactions that I didn't realize would remain after my balances matched. Can I unreconcile that statement so I can move forward with additional statements? If I leave the transactions there, will the remainder of my reconciliations be wrong?

Hello @campbell3,

Let me help share and walk you through the steps on how you can unreconcile transactions in QuickBooks Online.

To start with, transactions that has been successfully reconciled will show R ( Reconcile) status in your bank register. Let remove the said status of your transaction directly from your bank account register to unreconcile them. Let me who you how.

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find your bank account from the list of accounts.
  4. Under ACTION, select View register.
  5. Remove the reconciliation status of the transactions in question.

However, I'd still recommend contacting your accountant for additional assistance. With their QuickBooks Online Accountant account, one of the features can undo your reconciliation in one go. If you haven't yet, here's a useful link so you can find one near you: Find an accountant or bookkeeper.

On top of that, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can read while working with us: Banking for QuickBooks Online.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.
