I have a credit on a customer's account that was entered in error.  How do I permanently delete this credit. I have tried to get it deleted, but it tells me I must first delete it from the deposit, but I cannot find where that is.

I'm using Quickbooks Desktop.

Thank you for your help!

    Good morning, @Amberwaves95

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. It's great having you here.

It sounds like the credit memo has been applied. You'll need to open the credit memo and hit the Ctrl+H keys on your keyboard to open the transaction history. Once the transaction history is open, you can click on the deposit and remove the credit memo from it. I've included some steps to do this below.

    1. Open the credit memo that needs to be deleted.
    2. Hit the Ctrl+H keys on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the deposit to open it.
    4. Remove the credit memo by right-clicking and choosing Delete line.
    5. Save the changes and close the deposit screen.

Once the credit memo has been removed from the deposit, let's delete the credit memo. Here's how:

    1. In your top menu bar, go to Customers.
    2. Choose Create Credit Memos/Refunds.
    3. Find the appropriate record.
    4. Click its Delete (X) button.
    5. Select Yes.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this process. I'm always here to lend a hand. Take care!
