Hello there, @skinnydippersbak.

I can think of two possible scenarios based on your description of the issue above. Let me share further details about them so you can effectively manage your old accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you say you want to delete your old accounts, it's either you're referring to one of your accounts in your Chart of Accounts or your old QBO companies.

If you want to delete your old accounts to keep your chart of accounts organized, you'll have to inactivate them to remove them from your list. To make sure this change is right for you, I would encourage you to reach out to your accountant. Then, please note that there are certain accounts in QuickBooks that can't be deleted since they are the default ones for your company.

Whenever you're ready, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts under Your Company.
  3. Find the account you want to delete.
  4. Select the drop-down under the Action column, then choose the Make Inactive option.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the action.

To learn more about making accounts inactive and how you can manage them in QBO, please refer to this article: Make an account inactive on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, if you're referring to your old accounts as your former and cancelled QBO companies, you don't have to delete them. This is because your data will automatically be deleted one year after you cancel your subscription.

To learn more about what'll happen to your QBO data after you cancel, please see this article: What does canceling my subscription mean for my QuickBooks Online data?.

Also, I include one of our Help pages in case you need a reference in managing your QuickBooks account and business growth and transactions using QBO: QuickBooks Learn and Support. It has QuickBooks help articles, Community discussions with other users, and video tutorials, to name a few.

Let me know if there's anything else you need or questions about managing accounts and transactions in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care always, @skinnydippersbak.
