how can you edit or delete existing credit card in charts of account?

I got you covered. Let me help you delete or edit a credit card in the Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Sam shah.

 

In QBO, making the account inactive is also deleting the account. When the account is inactivated, it gets removed from the Chart of accounts, and other places where you can choose accounts. If the account has transactions, they remain part of your company data and it will still show through reports. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts under Your Company.
  3. Find the account you want to delete.
  4. Click the drop-down in the Action column, then choose Make Inactive.
  5. Press Yes to confirm the action.

Tried this and all I get when trying to make inactive is a delay for 15 secs and then a notice saying error. Tried all other options like updating consent and reconnecting to the bank which is sucessful ,but when i get back to the banking screen it hasn't updated. Four days ongoing with this issue, any advise would be helpful

We can perform some basic troubleshooting steps to help your browser works better and faster. Cookies and caches can be the reason why you are unable to make your credit card account inactive even if you've followed the process above. Let me guide you through the process.

 

  1. Restart your browser.
  2. Open your account in an incognito or private browser and see if you can make your credit card inactive without error. You may use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

 

Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N

Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P

Safari: press Command + Shift + N

 

If it works on the private browser, you can go back to the regular browser and clear your browser's cache and continue with your task and making your account inactive. However, if the incognito window didn't work, you can use another supported browser.
