How to get description on bank imports

Importing bank transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a great way to keep your financial data updated. If your bank or credit card account is connected to QuickBooks, the system is dependent on the data or information they share. You can reach out to them to verify the details they import and let them include the description of your transactions.

If your bank or credit card account isn't connected to QBO and you saw that they've indicated descriptions of your transactions, I'd recommend uploading them manually through a CSV file. After ensuring your file is in the correct format, you should be ready to upload. To do this, here's how:

1. Go to Bank transactions from the BOOKMARKS dropdown. Tip: You can also select Bank transactions from the Transactions tab in the MENU dropdown.
2. Select Upload transactions.
3. Click Drag and drop or select files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Continue.
4. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then select Continue.
5. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Continue.
6. Choose the transactions you would like to import. Then select Continue.
7. Select Yes.
8. When you accept your transactions, select Done.
