Question

How to have a "main" account like Travel that links to Schedule C, with "sub accounts" lodging, airline, car rental etc. that will have roll up to main Travel?

Good day, @doa2758.

QuickBooks Online doesn't have the option to create an account that would link to Schedule C. This feature is only available to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

Right now, you can organize your Chart of Accounts (COA) to match Schedule C. Then, run the Profit and Loss report and copy the numbers when reporting Form 1040.

If you need further help in organizing COA, reach out to your accountant so they can provide assistance. For additional resources, you can check out these articles:

Also, pleased be informed that QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed are two different QuickBooks products under two different platforms. To check which QuickBooks versions best suit your business, please click this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/online-compare/.

Moreover, you may sign-up for a QBSE account to generate your Schedule C tax report. Then, check out this article to guide you in filing your taxes: Annual tax guide.

You can always share your concerns with us. My Team and other QuickBooks users in the community page are always here to help. Have a good one.
