Hi there, FroggattMarine.

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. Please know that we aim to deliver customer satisfaction at all times that's why we fix an issue as soon as possible. With this, may I ask for additional details about the purchased parts you're referring to? Were the items already sold to the customer or do you buy some of the items? I appreciate any further details so I can share an accurate solution.

For now, I'm adding this article to view steps on how you can enter the amount you received or a refunded amount of the purchases made on your credit card: How can I record a cash back to my credit card account?.

Don't hesitate to click the Reply button below and add extra information about your concern, I'm always here if you need anything else in applying for credit card credit. Have a good one.

I do not believe this solves my problem. I am trying to record a single transaction where i returned two inventory parts and bought two different inventory parts. The two new inventory parts cost less, therefore I received $22 back onto my credit card.

Thanks for getting back here, FroggattMarine.

Let me share a solution to help with your situation.

You can add a discount as a line item on the bill and categorized it toward an income account. Before doing so, please consult with your accountant for advice.

Here's how:

  1. Go to + New > Bill.
  2. Add the vendor information.
  3. In the Item details section, enter the four inventory parts (two returned inventory parts and the ones you purchased).
  4. Add the discount item. If you  haven't created one, you can click on the Add new button.
  5. Enter the discount as a negative amount.
  6. Click Save or Save and close.

When you're ready to pay the bill, you'll notice the amount owed is reduced by the amount of the line entered.

If you have more questions related to inventories, or need some assistance with the other features in your account, please let me know in your reply. I'd be more than happy to help you out.
