It won't link my bank using user ID and password. My bank requires an additional customer ID to log in that quickbooks doesn't ask for. Can you still do it old school, by confirming small deposits in bank

Welcome to the Community, usersarahemberwhiley.

If you're using Square 1 bank, before you connect your accounts, you'll need a user ID and temporary password to sign in with. These won't be the same as the normal credentials and can be obtained by contacting them.

It's also possible your financial institution has multiple names on our list. Make sure you try all possible listings to find the correct one. They can additionally be searched by their website's sign in URL.

In the event your financial institution doesn't participate in our Online Banking feature, you can download and import transactions manually.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the Accounting menu, then Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find your account.
  3. Click View register.
  4. Locate and write down the date of your oldest transaction. Usually, this will be its opening balance.
  5. Sign in to the bank's website.
  6. Follow their instructions for downloading CSV, QBO, or QFX files of your transactions.
  7. Review the date range for your file. It should be at least one day before your oldest transaction's date.
  8. Download the file and be sure to save it somewhere you can easily find it.
  9. Check your file's format and size before uploading it. If it's a CSV file, confirm it's formatted properly. QBO and QFX files won't need to be checked for formatting. The maximum file size is 350 KB. If yours is too big, try shortening its date range and download it again from the financial institution's website.

Once your file's prepared, you can upload it and begin categorizing the transactions.
