I accidentally reported my business income too high for my 2022 summary. I just realized that returned purchases back to my credit cards were marked as income.  Can I change this on my taxes from last year?

Yes, you can, Devin. Allow me to provide some insights regarding taxes in QuickBooks.

QuickBooks Self-Employed(QBSE) will re-calculate your taxes once you made changes to your account. Changing your reported transactions into the appropriate category will correct last year's calculated taxes. I recommend working with your accountant on this matter.

However, if you wanted to change filed taxes last year, you need to reach out to the IRS and might need to file for amendment since QBSE is for recording purposes only. You can use these IRS instructions for the correction and work with them.

I've also included this general guide for self-employed individuals to ensure your accounting is correct: QuickBooks Self-Employed Annual Tax Guide.

If you have additional questions regarding income taxes in QBSE, please don't hesitate to reach out again. We're here to assist you.
