Question

I am trying to categorize a transaction in banking the view that is NOT a transfer and QB keeps telling me that I have to select a "from" account and a "to" account.

I'm using the online version with a Mac OS Catalina. I don't have problems with other transactions and this is the first time I've seen this. I cleared my cookies and some other things to see if that would help and it didn't.

Hi there, @hollygailk.

 

Let's try to access your QBO account on other supported browsers. It could be that the one you're currently using has a temporary issue with QuickBooks. However, if the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our technical support team. They use specific tools to pull up your account in a secure place and investigate the root cause of the issue. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. From the Assistant tab, type your concern. Example: Getting a message to select a From and To account when categorizing non-transfer transactions in QBO. 
  3. Then, type Talk to a Human and click the Get help from a human option.
  4. Choose either Chat or Callback

Then, to ensure that the balance of your bank and QuickBooks are matched. You'll need to reconcile it regularly. For the detailed steps, please visit this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
