Question

I am trying to upload my credit card transactions using a CSV file and the amounts are uploading as "received" instead of "spent". How do I fix this?

Let's get this sorted out, @jamie-totalglass.

The transactions imported in reverse may be due to incorrect mapping. To import them correctly, you'll have to select the corresponding credit card account (not a bank account) when you upload the file into QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To fix this, we'll have to exclude the imported transactions first to avoid duplicates.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the Banking tab.
  3. Choose an account.
  4. Select the For review tab.
  5. Put a checkmark beside the transactions.
  6. Click Exclude.

Once done, we can now re-import the bank transactions in QBO. I'll guide you on how.

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Upload transactions.
  3. Choose Drag and drop or Select files and choose the file you downloaded from your bank. Then, click Continue.
  4. In the QuickBooks account drop-down arrow, select a credit card account (not a bank account).
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then, select Continue.
  7. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then, click Continue.
  8. Click Yes.
  9. When you accept your transactions, select Done.

Once you've imported your credit card transactions correctly, you'll want to categorize them into the right account.
