You're in the right direction for assistance, @info-triadtilewo.
I'm here to share information on why the returned money is reflected as income. Also, provide guidelines on matching this deposit to the transaction entered in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Purchasing an item from your vendors is an expense from the customer's end. This is why the money received intended for the returned item is an income. With that, there's no way we can match these transactions. We can manually create a Bank Deposit to match the item made in QBO. Then, exclude the deposit from your banking tab.
On the other hand, if you used Bill when purchasing the products, please ensure that the affected account is Accounts Payable (AP) when you create the Bank Deposit.
Here's how you can create a Bank Deposit:
- Click the + New button and select the Bank deposit under Other.
- Choose the account where the money goes in from the Account dropdown.
- Marked check the deposit showing under the Select the payments included in this deposit.
- Fill out the other fields for further identification of the transactions. Then, enter the Amount and click Save and close.
Afterwards, clean your banking tab by excluding the transaction:
- Go to the Banking menu in the left panel and choose Banking.
- In the For Review tab, select the transaction that does not match the one created within QBO.
- Tap on the Exclude button.
- Go to the Excluded tab, and select the transactions again.
- Press the Delete button.
Moreover, learn to categorize and match your online bank transactions. Then, you can reconcile your account to ensure your books are balanced.
Let me know if you have more questions regarding matching your transactions from QBO and online banking. I got your back. Have a good one!
