Question

I closed out my books in account settings with a date of 12/31/2019. I am still able to edit transactions in 2019. Why?

I thought that once we close out the books, then you cannot edit w/o a warning

Hello @mariellaguillama,

You're on the right track, a warning message will pop up once an entry is created or edited on or before the closing date.

Let's pull up your Audit Log report to double-check the date of the transaction where you wish to make the changes. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under TOOLS, select Audit Log.
  3. On the EVENT column, review the transaction where it says Edited.
  4. Confirm the date of your transaction.

In the same manner, here's an article you can read to learn more about the nature of closing your books: Close your books in QuickBooks Online.

On top of that, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Know where you stand financially.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know by leaving any comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.
