Question

I could not identify why my Bank and QuickBooks account was off by around $970 so I undid all of the transactions in the banking window and now matches don't work.

I undid them all and now they all show up in for review tab. I was just going to do them all over but now there are no match suggestions from quickbooks. Even when I click on match, it does not show options that are definitely there in quickbooks as payments from clients. It's like the program glitched and did not undo the matched transactions fully so they don't show up anymore to match.

Hello @ProInnovation,

Ideally, you can find a match for a bank transaction with your existing entries as long as the date and the amount are exactly the same.

Let's review your bank transaction directly from your account register to identify if you've completely undone them or not. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find your bank account from the list of accounts.
  4. Under ACTION, select View register.

From here, make sure your transaction doesn't show up in the green box under the checkmark column. If it does, you'll have to exclude your existing transaction under the For Review tab and undo them again. To do so:

  1. Go to Transactions.
  2. Select Banking.
  3. Under For Review, select all your transactions.
  4. Click Exclude.

However, if you've confirmed that they've been completely undone from the corresponding match, let's consider expanding the date range when reviewing to widen the transaction suggestion.

In the same manner, here's an article you can read to learn more about reviewing your bank transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Meanwhile, I'd also recommend getting in touch with your accountant if you're still unable to reconcile the balance of both your accounts. If you haven't yet, here's a useful link so you can find one near you: Find an accountant or bookkeeper.

On top of that, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Banking for QuickBooks Online.
