Question

I downloaded credit card transactions for the first time and everything is balanced and reconciled; however, the individual line items are not appearing on my P&L. Why?

I use a P&L by class to prepare a monthly report for the board and the charges are not showing.

Welcome to the Community, victoryqbo. Let me guide you on which report we can use to show your needed P&L data in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Beforehand, the Profit & Loss by Class report shows your data by Class category and its total amount. To view its details, you'll have to click the total amount of each item. Then, you can see and review the transactions under each item line.

Meanwhile, we can utilize the Profit and Loss Detail report to access a report consisting of a complete breakdown of your P&L in QBO. It displays detailed information about your data and can be customized accordingly.

To run this report, we can follow the steps below:

  1. On the Reports menu, select Reports.
  2. Enter the report range accurately on the Report period.
  3. You may also choose the arrangement of your data by clicking the Sort ▼ dropdown.
  4. You also have the option to personalize the report to show your needed information by clicking Customize. This feature lets you modify your Columns/RowsFilter, and Header/Footer.
  5. Once done, hit Run report.

However, if there are missing transactions, please switch from the Cash to Accrual method. Both Accounting method shows different information that may affect what data are visible on your report.

In addition, I'm adding this article to help you get started with Memorized Reports in QBO. This feature allows you to save the customization settings of your report: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

We're available 24/7 if you have additional queries regarding your P&L report in QuickBooks. Have a great day.
