Question

I had a refund on my debit card come back as an expense instead of a deposit when downloaded from my bank into QB. How do i fix it? It is correct in my bank account.

It was a partial refund on a purchase at a store.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) automatically assigns the unidentified amounts received when downloading transactions. You can still assign it to the appropriate account by updating its category. Let me guide you on how: 

 

QuickBooks Online (QBO) automatically assigns the unidentified amounts received when downloading transactions. You can still assign it to the appropriate account by updating its category. Let me guide you on how: 

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu, then pull up the Transaction list report. 
  2. Locate and then select the refund transaction to view its details.
  3. In the Category/Account field, choose the appropriate account.
  4. Click Save and close
