Question

I have a Quickbook Pro 2007 version that I'd like to import into Quickbooks Online. Can this be done?

Yes, you can import your QuickBooks Desktop to Online, @peterelwood.

In your case, you'll need to download an updated version of QuickBooks Desktop so you can move your file to QuickBooks Online. Make sure to create a backup copy of your file first. Let me walk you through the process.

  1. Download a trial version of QuickBooks Pro 2020.
  2. Restore the backup copy of your company file.
  3. Import your Desktop file to Online. Here's how:
    1. Log in as Admin to your company file.
    2. Go to Company, then Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
    3. Choose Start your export. Then, sign in as Admin to your QuickBooks Online.
    4. Select Yes if you track inventory and specify the as of date, and No if you want to set up new items later in QBO.
    5. Click the Choose online company drop-down and your QuickBooks Online company. Then, Continue.
    6. Enter "Agree" in the text field, then Replace.
    7. Tick Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then Replace.

Once done, please see this article for the steps on what to do next. Just scroll towards the bottom of this link: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. I'm also adding our page about getting started with QuickBooks Online and what to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online for your reference.

Should you have other questions or concerns. Feel free to swing by anytime. Thanks for posting and happy weekend.

I do not want to transfer all my companies to online quick books. I want to keep my other companies on my old version of Quickbooks, which is “Quickbook Pro 2007.

I only need one company transferred to online version.

 How to I do.

thank you

@peterelwood

Call and ask Intuit Data Service to convert your data file to one of recent versions, open it on trial license of Pro 2020, and self-migrate it to QBO. Otherwise, you have to purchase a 3rd party comversion service to get the converted QBW file ready to open on Pro 2020.
