Question

I have deposited multiple checks from various rental properties. I need to split the total transaction by tags but I can only apply tags to the entire transaction. Help?

I want to tag each property differently - so if I have a deposit for Property A and Property B - each for $1,000. How do I tag each one (but not both together).

Hi there, arealhomeaway-gm.

I can help share some information about tags in QuickBooks Online.

The Tags feature is designed and used for the entire transaction. I encourage you to send feedback to our developers and let them know that you need it for the split transactions. Just click the Gear icon and select Feedback.

For more details about how Tags work in QuickBooks Online, please read these articles:

Also, if you haven't utilized class tracking, you can use it instead. This tracking feature allows you to assign on each line item or split transactions. After splitting the transactions, follow these steps:

  1. From the Accounting menu, select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the bank and click View register.
  3. Select the transaction and click Edit.
  4. Assign a class. Click Save.

Please follow the steps in this article on how to set it up: Get started with class tracking in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to leave a reply if you have more questions about class tracking in QBO. I'll be here to answer them for you.
