Question

I have some transactions that need the date changed so the expense goes in a prior month. How do I do that?

I’d be glad to walk you through the process, @katie-cfmusiccit.

You can go to your Expenses menu to change the date of your transactions to the prior month. Check out the steps below to do it:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click the Expenses menu, then choose the Expenses tab.
  3. You can use the Filter button to quickly locate the said transactions.
  4. Select the View/Edit option under the Action column.
  5. Update the date, then press Save or Save and close after.

If the account is already reconciled, you can manually reconcile them by putting an “R” status in your register. This makes sure the month’s total is balanced and accurate.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Accounting menu, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account that has the reconciled transactions.
  3. Select View register.
  4. Locate the entries you just updated.
  5. In the Checkmark ✔ column, keep clicking the field until you’ll see “R.”
  6. Select Save.
