I just finished reconciling a bank statement and realized that I entered the wrong closing date. How to fix??

To fix the incorrect closing date inside the reconciliation, you can either manually unreconciled the transaction inside the account or work with an account since they can undo an entire reconciliation inside your company file. If you wish to do it manually, we'll outline the steps below:

 

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top right corner, click the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
  3. Locate the bank account you reconciled, and then click View register below the Action column.
  4. Find the transaction. You'll see an "R" in the checkmark column if it is a reconciled transaction, and then click on it.
  5. To mark the transaction as unreconciled, click the box with the "R" until the box is blank.
  6. Once done click the Save button and then close the account register.
