Question

I just set up QB Online and successful connected with Paypal, but it downloaded into a separate Account when I already had Paypal set up as an account. Can I merge them?

Yes, QuickBooks Online (QBO) allows you to merge these accounts, Marija. I'm here to help you how.

  1. Sign in to QBO.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then click on Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the duplicate account (the one you won't keep).
  4. Select the dropdown arrow in the Action column, then click on Edit.
  5. Change the Name and Detail Type so the duplicate account matches the account you want to keep.
  6. Tap on Save, then Yes to confirm the action.

Once done, you're transactions will now be added to the correct account. From there, you can match and categorize them accordingly.

Aside from merging multiple accounts, QBO also allows users to merge duplicate vendor and customer records. You can open this article as your guide: Merge duplicate accounts, customers, and vendors in QuickBooks Online.
