Question

I'm trying to import some older bank transaction to quickbooks but in the 2nd step on choosing the account, there's no account available eventhough my bank is connected?

Hi there, teamlorriep.

I can assist you and provide information about uploading transactions to bank accounts linked in QuickBooks Online.

First, let's make sure the steps you followed are correct. To manually upload transactions for accounts connected to QuickBooks, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click the Link account dropdown and then Upload from file.
  4. Hit Drag and drop or select files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then Continue.
  5. In the QuickBooks account ▼ dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then select Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Continue.
  7. Choose the transactions you would like to import. Then hit Continue.
  8. Select Yes.
  9. Once you accept your transactions, click on Done.

If in the process you're still unable to see the account, go back to the Bank Transactions tab in QuickBooks Online and click on the Update button to initiate a manual sync with your connected bank. This will ensure that QuickBooks Online is up-to-date with the latest account information.

If the issue persists and the account is still not showing when you upload the file. we can perform some troubleshooting steps to check and fix any browser-related issues. One possible explanation for why details such as Bank Accounts aren't displayed is that your browser saves outdated and corrupted cache files. This can sometimes lead to issues with loading or navigating those pages.

We'll start by accessing your QuickBooks Online account through a private/incognito window. Depending on your browser, use the keyboard shortcut below to open one:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If you're able to see and select the bank account, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This will remove any outdated or corrupted internet files that may be causing issues while browsing.

As an alternative, you can look and use other supported browsers that work perfectly with QuickBooks Online.
