I need to change bank accounts in quick books and I don't know how to edit bank account so I can add the new one and get rid of the old. how to do this?

I really need assistance with this because it doesn't seem intuitive.

Let me guide you on how you can change your bank account in QuickBooks, userannette.

 

Once you connect your bank account, QuickBooks downloads recent transactions automatically. You'll want to disconnect the account if you don't want to use it anymore. To do this, simply, follow the steps below: 

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu. Then select the Banking tab.
  2. Select the tile for the bank account.
  3. Select the pencil icon, then select Edit account info.
  4. Select the Disconnect this account on save checkbox. Note: If QuickBooks is downloading new transactions, you won't see this option. Wait a few minutes for the update to finish and try again.
  5. Select Save and Close.

 

However, if you're referring to accounts in your Chart of Accounts (COA), you can make the account inactive. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to delete.
  3. Select the Action dropdown and select Make inactive.
