Question

I need to reconcile and pay a credit card with multiple sub accounts. Do I just need to reconcile the sub accounts and that will take care of the main account?

Hi there, Lori.

Let me guide you on adequately reconciling your credit card with multiple sub-accounts.

To handle this effectively in QBO, you can set up a credit card account with multiple subaccounts to easily connect it to your bank and reconcile downloaded transactions. When it's time to reconcile , you only need to reconcile the parent account because all transactions in the sub-accounts roll up into it. For more info, feel free to read this article: About bank or credit card subaccount setup

The parent account will also be affected when paying the balances the balances for your credit card sub-accounts. This will zero out the amount you owe.

Closing your books when the year ends is advisable to avoid unwanted changes before tax filing. This will prevent anyone from tampering with your accounting information until the closing date.
