Question

I recently changed bank accounts, now when I try and link the new account I get an error. I know it's because the business tab has to be selected on the bank website.

I reconfigured some bank accounts, usernames and passwords to separate business and personal logins. Now when I try and update my sign in info for my commercial accounts I repeatedly get an error. On my bank website I have to select the business tab in order for the login to work and view my business accounts, I suspect QB is attempting to link my account using my business login info but under the default personal accounts through the bank.

I want to ensure you're able to change your bank account, quintin1.

Before proceeding, may I know the exact error you've encountered? This helps me further investigate the main cause of this.

If you can't find your account, there are several reasons this can happen. I've listed them below.

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Make sure you have selected the correct listing or have tried all possible links.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

To resolve this, I'd suggest checking out this article: Lookup Your Bank When you Connect it to Online Banking.

In the meantime, use the WebConnect feature to import transactions and then download them into your company file. The Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online link will walk through the step-by-step process.

In case you encounter any errors, please see this article which contains a list of common online banking errors: What to Do if You See a Bank Error or Bank Transactions Won’t Download.

Keep in touch if you need further assistance in managing your bank transactions. I'm always here to help.
