Hi there, John. I'm here to help you with adding a picture or attachments to your expense transactions.

If I may ask, may I know the specific error message you're getting when trying to attach a picture to your first expense? This way, I can gather enough resources and check for open investigations.

For the time being, I recommend signing in to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) using a private browser, then add the picture from there. It's the best place to check if the issue is within the browser you're using. To save you time, you can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

Once done, here's how you can attach the image to your expense transaction:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu at the left pane. If you're on an Android phone or tablet, select the menu ☰ icon and then Transactions.
  2. Find and select the transaction you want to attach the receipt to.
  3. Select browse or Attach a receipt.
  4. Pick the picture, then hit Save.

If it works fine, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. You can also use another supported and up-to-date browser to narrow down the result.

I'm also adding this link for more tips about attaching receipts to your QBSE transactions: Record or attach expense receipts in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You can use the receipt forwarding feature to email images of your receipts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
