Let me help you add the checking account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), edna8481165.

If this is not your first time connecting your account through Online banking, we'll see a Link account if you've already created one. Just follow the steps below to add your checking account:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the Banking tab.
  3. Tap Link account on the left menu.
  4. Search for your bank and you can connect with most banks, even small credit unions.
  5. Hit Continue. Enter the username and password you use for your bank's website in the window.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to connect. Your bank may require additional security checks. It may take a few minutes to connect.
  7. Choose the bank or credit card accounts you want to connect (savings, checking, or credit card). You should see all of your available accounts at your bank or credit card company.
  8. For each account, you connect, select the matching account type from the dropdowns. These are accounts on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks.
  9. Select how far back you want to download transactions. Some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions. Others can go back as far as 24 months.
  10. Press Connect.

To learn more about this one, see the Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online article. If the same thing happens, it's possible the browser's cache data becomes full of frequent access to web pages or damaged. This causes odd behavior when adding a bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To better isolate this issue, let's try signing in to QBO using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues. Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

Feel free to visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Just reply to this post and I'll get back to you. You have a good one.
