Question

I've imported transactions from my bank, but everything came in as income (most are withdrawals). How can I delete the imported transactions?

I'm here to share information about deleting imported data in QuickBooks Self-Emplyed (QBSE), @njpetersen88.

There are two ways to remove unwanted transactions from QuickBooks. You can either exclude them or delete them.

However, since imported transactions are downloaded from your bank, the best course of action is to exclude them instead of deleting them. This is because bank-downloaded transactions can't be deleted, but they can be excluded.

When you exclude a transaction, it stays in your records, but QuickBooks doesn't use it in your financial statements. So, be sure to double-check before you exclude any downloaded transactions to ensure that it's the right thing to do for your accounting.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find the transaction you want to exclude and select it to expand the view.
  3. Select the Exclude this transaction checkbox.
  4. Select Save.

Once you have excluded the transaction, it will move to the Excluded transaction list. You can review those transactions there to verify if you have excluded the correct transaction.

You can refer to this article for more details and information: Exclude or delete transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed

Keep us posted if you have further questions about transactions in QBSE. I'll be of help. Best regards.
