I'm here to help record the check using the general journal entry, atprovost.

You'll first need to locate and delete the check to prevent duplicate records on your company file. Once done, add a journal entry.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Company menu and select Make General Journal Entries.
  2. Fill out the fields to create your journal entry. Make sure your debits equal your credits when you’re done.
  3. Select Save or Save & Close.

There are several possible reasons why you need to create a journal entry in QuickBooks Desktop.

  • Transfer amounts:
    • Move from one income or expense account to another.
    • To transfer amounts from an asset, liability, or equity account to an income or expense account.
    • Transfer amounts from one class to another.
  • Record transactions in the traditional system of accounting using debits and credits in a general journal or ledger.
  • Enter miscellaneous transactions to complete year-end activities.

This type of transaction is entered, or posted, directly to the general ledger.

Learn more about this through this link: Create a journal entry.
