Question

If a recon states that "account isn't ready to reconcile yet" and then cites "beginning balance is off by "X" is that a reference to the beginning balance from day one?

Good day, @lhinckley.

I'm happy to explain what's going on with your reconciliation. The beginning balance refers to the result after your last reconciliation.

I suggest you review and see the changes made to your reconciliation history to overcome this issue. It could be the root of the error.

Here's how:

  1. Click Settings at the upper right of your screen.
  2. Choose Audit Log.
  3. Go to the Filter button.
  4. Select Reconciliations under Events.
  5. Hit Apply.

Your reconciliation reports' history of modifications will show in the Audit Log, along with details about the users who made each modification.

If you find any modifications, you must do a new reconciliation that includes the changes and mark it manually as "R" in the Register. By doing this, the error won't appear in subsequent reconciliations.

I've also included other articles that provide further details on how to undo a reconciliation:

You should be able to correct the reconciliation mistake you encountered using these resources.
