Imported QBO file and cannot add to register

I'm having this issue where I can import a QBO file, but when I categorize the transactions and try to add to register, I am unable to add to register. Instead, I get the error message, "You don't have the permission to perform this action. You need to contact your primary admin for access."

 

I am the primary admin and I was able to import a QBO file and add transactions to the register from the bank feeds center for last month's activity. Only thing that has changed since is that I updated the company file. 

 

How can I solve this? Getting this for multiple company files now post-updating.

After that, follow these steps to rebuild your company file data:

 

  1. Navigate to File, Utilities, and then select Rebuild Data.
  2. QuickBooks will prompt you to create a backup before rebuilding your company file. Click OK—this step is necessary before proceeding.
  3. Choose a location to save your backup and click OK. Make sure not to replace any existing backup files; create a new name in the File Name field and hit Save.
  4. When you see the message that the rebuild has been completed, click OK.
  5. Go back to File, select Utilities, and then click on Verify Data again to check for any further damage.
  6. If the verification process reveals more issues, you’ll need to address them manually. Look up the errors in the qbwin.log on the QuickBooks Desktop support site for guidance.
  7. If you can't find a solution, you can restore a recent backup by going to File and selecting Open or Restore Company.

 

Note: Please avoid replacing your current company file; you'll need to re-enter the information since the backup file has been created.
