Importing banking transactions after downloading from bank

After I download transactions from the bank and save them, I try to import them and they don't show up. Actually, the checking account doesn't show up in Bank Feeds anymore, but the other accounts do--the ones I also download that import just fine, such as AMEX and the other bank.

Let’s get this resolved so you can continuously manage your imported transactions in QuickBooks, @Sharkey1.

Data issues in your company file might be the reason behind this. You can use the Verify and Rebuild Data tools to determine and fix the issues.

Here are the steps to do it:

  1. Close all your windows.
  2. Go to the File menu, and then click Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data.
  4. Follow the onscreen instruction to back up your data.
  5. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  6. Navigate to the File menu, then click Utilities.
  7. Click Verify Data, then select Rebuild Now once QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file.

Please know that you'll need to log in to your QuickBooks Desktop account using the single-user mode when performing this process.

Once everything is good, you can reconcile your account in the program. This way, you can ensure amounts match your statement and that records are accurate.

Was the Bank Account in QBs ever set up to do a Bank Feed?  If so, you need to go into the Chart of Accounts and Edit that Bank Account and Disable the Bank Feed.  You may need to close QBs and reopen before trying the import again.
