Question

In the new Journal report, how do I filter transactions by several names? I.e. all transactions with name equal to "x" OR equal to "y".

Also is there a fuzzy name search, like getting transactions with names similar (but not identical) to the name one is searching for?  For instance, we have donors who often donate from related entities; like John Doe (personal), John Doe's donor adviced fund, or John (& Jane) Doe.

Thanks for posting your concern, Houston. Let me help you achieve the option to filter transactions by several names in QuickBooks.

Yes, there is an option to search multiple names in the journal and other reports. However, you need to select the specific names of your donors to include them in the report.

Here's how:

  1. From the left panel, tap the Report menu.
  2. In the Find reports by name, choose Journal.
  3. Click the Filter icon and select how you want to filter your data.
  4. In the first dropdown, choose Names, then select Equals or with sub-names.
  5. Lastly, tap the multiple names you want to display on the report.
