Question

Is anyone else not getting bank transactions imported?

I am STILL not getting transactions imported from my bank account.  The last successful update was November 8.  Is it me, or should a company like Intuit be able to solve a software glitch sooner than OVER A MONTH??  When I go into Transactions > Bank Transactions > Update it appears to update, but no transactions are displayed and it doesn't list anything for review.  The balance appears to update, but no transactions.  I get a but green circle with a white checkmark telling me I'm up to date, but I'm not.  I have not had a transaction imported into QBO since the beginning of November.  Quickbooks acknowledges this issue and says they are working on it.  Over a month!  Is anyone else still having this issue and does anyone know what is going on with this?

After searching more articles on this subject I found that QBO users were having this same problem between Quickbooks and Singlepoint Bank from November 2022 until at least the end of February 2023.  That's not encouraging.

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, Wibill.

I appreciate you for performing some steps to fix the missing transactions for Singlepoint Bank in QuickBooks Online. I can see that things have been challenging for you about this, let me provide another step to ensure you can view the recent bank data in the program.

I recommend signing into your bank's website to check if there are issues with your financial institution. This way, you can also verify if there are notifications from your bank that need attention that might cause you to be unable to see entries while connecting the bank to QBO.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu on the left panel.
  2. Select Link accountNote: You won’t add an account, you just need the listed URL.
  3. Search for your bank and select it. Then, copy the URL listed for your bank.
  4. Sign into your bank or credit card's website using the copied URL.

After that, if you can sign in, it's a good signal that there isn't a major issue. Then, follow the following steps below to check any messages.

  1. Check your account for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  2. Look for any display issues as you navigate the website. These can block QuickBooks to connect with your bank.
  3. Check your bank’s website for any announcements about new security requirements.

You can open this article to view extra details: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online. This also provides different banking errors and how to fix them.

In case you need steps on how you can match or add transactions in QBO to avoid duplicate data, you can read this article: Find and categorise transactions in QuickBooks.

If there's anything you'd like to me address about your bank transactions, let me know and I'll lay down some details, Wibill. I'm always here to assist. Stay safe!

I don't use Singlepoint, I just noticed that they were experiencing the same issue.  I have been through troubleshooting with QBO customer support.  They acknowledge that the problem is on the QBO end.  It seems to me that a major technology company should be able to address software issues much faster than QBO has been able to. It's been an entire month.

Yes, I have this exact problem. It is linked to the bank account because it is able to update the balance in the account, but it doesn't download the transactions.

I appreciate your participation in the thread and informing us that you encountered the same issue, ecris. I'm here to assist you.

Sometimes, QuickBooks Online (QBO) may update the balance but fail to retrieve transactions due to connectivity issues between your bank and QBO, even if your bank account is linked. To address this better, I kindly request the name of the bank account linked to QBO. In the meantime, I suggest accessing your bank's website through the URL QuickBooks uses to connect and check for security notifications.

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Select Link account.
    a. You won't add an account, you just need the listed URL.
  3. Search for your bank and select it.
  4. Copy the URL listed for your bank.

Next, if you've recently updated your bank sign-in credentials, update your sign-in info in QBO. I recommend signing in to your QBO account through your browser's Private/Incognito Mode if you still get the same problem.

If the issue is resolved, let me add this article about reviewing your previous fiscal year and preparing for the new one: Year-end guide for QuickBooks Online.

We're always here in the Community if you have further updates about connecting your Venmo with QBO. Take care.

OK, still no luck. I'm connecting to First National Bank (Pennsylvania). I have checked the bank account for security notifications (none), and I tried using quickbooks in an Incognito browser window, and it still doesn't download transactions.

We have been having terrible problems linking and re-linking US Bank accounts to several QBO accounts all year, 2023.  Been talking with the bank and they don't know what to do, so they blame Intuit.  While Intuit sends us on wild goose chases throughout the QBO program.  Get together (Intuit) and make these bank connections work.  Ever heard of the phone?

I wish you didn't face such challenges connecting your bank account to QuickBooks, @nvcpa. Don't worry, I'm here to ensure everything is working seamlessly.

Before we do so, may I know your bank's name and the error message you're getting when linking it to QuickBooks? Some banks have multiple names on our list. You can log in to all bank extensions if there are multiple results when you search for them.

Utilize this article that details the process: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

If the issue remains even after selecting the correct bank, I recommend accessing your QBO account in a private or incognito window to determine if this is some kind of a browser-related issue. These keyboard shortcuts can start a session depending on the browser that you're using:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Once signed in, reconnect your bank once again. If you're still unable to connect it, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Support team. This way, they can take note of your case and raise a ticket for further investigation if needed.

In the meantime, you can download an updated list of your transactions from your bank's website and upload them to QuickBooks using a CSV file. After you import your transactions in QuickBooks, you can review them in the For Review tab.

Do you really think this is helpful?  That none of us have tried this before?  Thank you for stating the obvious.

Yes.  With Wells Fargo.

Ever since the 2023 update (for Mac)  I have to re-establish my online banking settings every time I want to download transactions.  I spent half an hour on the phone with Quickbooks and they blame the banks.  In fact, the tech admitted that multiple banks cannot complete the process either.

Me:  Well if multiple banks have the same issue, and it only started happening with this update, doesn't that sound like it could be on Intuit's end?

Tech Support:  No its the banks, we are just a receiver for transactions.

Me: then can you explain why this only started happening with the latest update and build of your software?  And for 15 straight years of using your software, this is the firs time I've had this issue with your software?

Tech Support: we are just a receiver for transactions.  Some banks don't want to work with us.

Me: um...can you please tell the dev team that there is an issue here in the last month?

Tech Support:  They are aware and try and update the software whenever they can.

This is when I realized this person had no real knowledge of how a software company works.

So if anyone has the answer, please post it here.  I'm so frustrated with Quickbooks.  I may ask my accountant to use something else.

So here we are....forced to re-do the online settings every time

UPDATE.

The 2024 update has fixed the issue that I was experiencing in this thread.  However, I would like to point out that the tech support person adamantly blamed the banks and NOT intuit for the issue.  Even though I suggested otherwise.

Proving that the tech person had no info or knowledge of what the engineers were doing.

In the old days, you used to be able to talk to the geeks and the software devs.

I have trouble since  before Christmas with this.  It's now March.  You wouldn't believe the hours I've wasted and the unhelpful support I've received.  What's really infuriating is that they have twice sent me an email that they've fixed the issue and I should consider it resolved, and nothing's changed at all.  Today, they again helpfully told me that there is a team working on this issue and I should know soon how to fix it.  When I pointed out this is the same garbage I've been hearing since mid December, she didn't know what to tell me.
