Question

Is it possible to automatically upload transactions from previous years? It's going to take me way too long to manually upload a year's worth of transactions.

I use a macbook which also complicates the file formatting (CSV to Windows CSV)

You can use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo @ $60 one time license) as a workaround.

Hello there! Let me share with you some insights and information into uploading bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To automatically upload transactions in QuickBooks Online, the system typically downloads transactions up to a certain date when you connect your bank and credit card accounts. Ideally, QuickBooks Online allows you to upload 90 days' worth of bank transactions, and you can follow specific steps to import older transactions into the program.

Moreover, you can manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online by following a series of steps that involve picking a start date, getting transactions from your bank, reviewing the file format and size, uploading the transactions, categorizing them, and reconciling the transactions. This process ensures that all entries are accounted for correctly without duplicates and helps maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online.

For MacBook users, however, it's recommended to save the file in either QuickBooks Online data (QBO) format or as a CSV file on your computer. Follow the instructions provided in this article for more details. Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.
