Question

Is it possible to change a tax payment date that was manually entered incorrectly to match actual bank withdrawal date so as to reconcile in the correct month?

I have a tax payment which matches bank withdrawal; however, the payment date written (default  error) is for a few days later than actual withdrawal date into the next month resulting in unreconciled books.

Good day, vciwalls.

I have some information with regards to changing the tax payment date in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can delete and recreate the tax payments to match them to your bank statement date. I'll show you how:

  1. On the left pane, select Taxes.
  2. At the top left, select the Payroll Tax tab.
  3. Click View tax payments you have made under Taxes.
  4. Find the name of the tax payment.
  5. From the View and Print form drop-down, select Delete.
  6. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

After deleting the payment, you can now manually record it. Then, match it to your downloaded transaction in QuickBooks. Once you clear the tax payment in your bank register, you can reconcile it.

Additionally, the program offers a variety of payroll reports that you can access to easily monitor your employees and account info. For the complete list and their description, feel free to check this article: Run payroll reports.

Stay in touch if there's anything else I can help you with changing the tax payment date in QBO. I'll be happy to help you out.
