Is it possible to link my personal checking account until I have my business account set up without messing up my books?

I am waiting on my LLC to come through but already have some income. I would like to link a personal account temporarily so that I can charge credit cards.

Thanks for posting here, @arliskas-gmail-c.

Yes, you can connect your personal checking account in QuickBooks. However, the program is designed for tracking a business, not personal finances. This is to avoid messing with your personal and business transactions. Just in case you're referring to using personal funds for your business expenses, please see this article on the process of recording and reimbursing the funds: Pay for business expenses with personal funds.

For additional reference, you may open this article: Mixing business and personal funds.

I also recommend reaching out to your accountant so they can give the best advice on what action you need to take. If you're not affiliated with one, you can use our Find an Accountant tool

Lastly, to ensure that your transactions are accounted for in the correct categories, you'll need to accurately match and categorized them. For the detailed steps, please visit this article: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Feel free to get back here if you have further questions about linking your personal accounts in QuickBooks. I'll be always around to help. Keep safe.
