Question

Is it possible to look up previously reconciled accounts that have been changed?

My bookkeeping finished reconciling my 2022 accounts, before my accountant was able to recieve this info I updated my accounts connection to quickbooks causing multiple issues which seem to have automatically rereconciled my accounts incorrectly. I'm wondering if there is an archive of saved reports that will allow me to recover the proper reconciliations.

It's nice to see you here in the QuickBooks Community, Jonathan. Let me assist you in resolving the reconciliation discrepancy in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To address your question, yes. QBO automatically generates a report every time you complete a reconciliation. It summarizes the beginning and ending balances and which transactions were cleared and uncleared. It comes in handy whenever you have issues reconciling the following month and when you meet with your accountant.

Here's how to view it:

  1. Go to Reports and search for Reconciliation Report.
  2. Select the Account for the reconciliation report you want to view.
  3. Choose the reconcile period in the Report period dropdown arrow.
  4. Click View Report.

Additionally, auto-reconciliation is not possible in QBO. If you've updated your bank accounts, you may have incorrectly categorized your transactions, which causes discrepancies in your books. In light of this, undo them so they will return to the For Review tab. Then, compare the QBO transactions with your actual bank statement and classify them accordingly to the appropriate accounts.
