Question

Is it possible to manually add a bank account? It keeps automatically pulling my personal account and not my business account at the same institution.

It's a pleasure to have you here today, Shannon. We'll provide details to help address your queries and ensure bank accounts inside QuickBooks Online (QBO) are downloading the correct transactions.

Yes, it's possible to manually add your bank transactions and put them into your preferred bank account's register inside your company file. We'll gladly write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top-right corner, click the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts. A reminder, you can also select Chart of accounts from the Transactions tab in the MENU dropdown.
  3. Find the account register you want to review.
  4. Select View register from the Actions column.

Please see this handy article for further guidelines: Manually add transactions to account registers in QuickBooks Online.

Also, please be aware that when you manually import a bank transaction into the program, you'll want to ensure you're using the correct file format that the QBO accepts. Visit this page for more details: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

With regards to bank transactions downloaded from your account and not the business account, please know that QBO depends on the information that the bank provides. To ensure it accurately downloads the transactions into the correct account, we recommend checking this article: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.

Furthermore, here's an article to help you manage bank transactions and reconcile an account inside QBO:
