I set up a "corporate" class for my payroll but I need a way to automatically re-classify these transactions across my 9 locations.

Hi sholloway1!

Yes, there is a way to reclassify your payroll transactions. All you have to do is edit your settings to assign a class to all or each employee. Then, apply the changes to your historical payroll transactions. I'll guide you through the steps.

Assign a class to all or each employee:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Click the pencil icon in the Accounting section at the bottom.
  3. Click the pencil icon for Class Tracking.
  4. Select I use the same classes for all employees or I use different classes for different employees.
  5. Assign a class and click Continue.

Apply the changes to past transactions:

  1. On the same page, click the pencil icon for Want to update existing transactions.
  2. Set the start date that you want the changes to be applied.
  3. Click Update and exit.

After making changes in your settings, you can run class reports to see the effect.

On the other hand, if you want to see some references for QuickBooks Online Payroll, just go to the main support page and select the said product. Or, click on Help, select Assistant, and search for the topics you like.
