Question

Is there a way to change the "statement ending date" for a completed reconciliation?

I reconciled  one of the credit cards on our account.  The statement ending date was 5/11/24.  When I clicked on the date, I chose the 11th not realizing the calendar was currently showing June.  I didn't realize until I went to save the reconciliation report that I had chosen 6/11/24 instead of 5/11/24.  How can I correct it?

Good morning, @macktn-grouprbi-.

How are you today? I hope all is well.

If you haven't completed the reconciliation yet, you can still change the reconciliation ending date by following these steps:

  1. Click Accounting in the left panel and select the Reconcile tab.
  2. Choose the bank account from the Account drop-down list.
  3. Tap the Resume reconciling button.
  4. From the upper right-hand corner, click the Edit Info button.
  5. Change the reconciliation year date from there.
  6. Hit Save.

However, if you've already finished the process, you'll need to undo the reconciliation and correct the year date. The Undo option is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant. I'd recommend inviting your accountant to your company and letting them undo the reconciliation period at once.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner, and select Manage Users.
  2. Go to the Accounting firms tab, enter the accountant's email, and click the Invite button.
  3. Hit Save.
  4. Once invited, have your accountant undo the entire reconciliation.

Otherwise, you'll need to undo the reconciled transactions one at a time so you can change the date. You can use this article for reference: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online. Using the same link, you'll see the steps on how to adjust and fix beginning balances.

That should do the trick. Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. Take care and have a wonderful day!
