Question

Is there a way to view a P&L from only one bank account at a time?

I just need to view the expenses I've paid out from a specific account as categorized totals.

In other words, I need to see how much rent came out of a certain account over the last 5 months and how much payroll was paid out by the same account, etc.

I've got your back, @userinfinityroomsale. I'd be pleased to share some details about your concern and help you customize a report to see the paid expenses for a specific bank account inside your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.

Currently, the option to filter a profit and loss report to view the expenses you've paid using a specific bank account is unavailable. However, you can consider customizing a Transaction Detail by Account report to track the expenses that you've paid using a specific bank account. To begin, here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, go to the Reports tab.
  3. In the search bar, type Transaction Detail by Account.
  4. Click the Customize button beside Save customization.
  5. Go to Filter section, then check the box beside Transaction Type and also the box beside Distribution Account.
  6. Select Expense on the Transaction Type dropdown arrow, and then select the bank account in the Distribution Account dropdown arrow.
  7. Once done, click Run report button.

In case you'd like to export a custom report in Excel or PDF format, feel free to visit this article for the steps: Export custom reports to PDF or Excel.

Additionally, I've got you this article in case you'd like to see the reports included in you QBO subscription: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.
