Linking Edward Jones Account brings in investment transactions, mixes accounts

I have a client with several accounts with Edward Jones.  When we attempted to connect them to the bank feed, each time it would not only put transactions from different accounts in another account in the bank feed, it also pulled over the investment information from her personal portfolios she had in other accounts that I didn't link.  Is this a known problem?  Is there a way to fix it?

Hi there, ericaTTPB.

The account you linked to QuickBooks may be linked to a different one. That said, the other data is pulled out of the system.

With that, I'd recommend reaching out to your financial institution and checking the setup of the account.

Once done, you're good to categorize the downloaded transactions. Here's an article as your guide:  Categorize items.

I'll be around whenever you need help with bank transactions. Keep safe!

Hello, I am a new customer and having the same issue.  The data being imported from my lone Edward Jones business checking account appears to be pulling not just the one account I requested, but all of my accounts at Edward Jones!!!  this seems like a major security issue...I am being told by the EJ rep that Edward Jones sends all accounts under the same User ID so the only way around this is to move that one EJ account to a new user id and password.  Is there a way around this as I am trying to just pull my business account and not any of my other EJ accounts?  IS EJ just antiquated and not up to date like all the other banks?

Please know this isn’t the kind of impression we want you to have, @burningskylodge. I'm here to turn the tables around and help provide information about the EJ account.

You’ll want to reach out to your bank to see if they’re performing some maintenance. One of their specialists can use their tools to pull your account from their database and investigate the issues you’ve encountered.

As for QuickBooks, you’ll need to exclude the transactions to avoid duplicates. If you’re unable to see them, go to the Categorize tab and undo those transactions so they’ll appear in the For review tab.

Here's how:

  1. On the left pane, go to the Banking menu.
  2. In the For review tab, tick the transactions.
  3. Click the Exclude button.

You can also check this link for the complete details: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

I'd also recommend reaching out to your accountant to ensure your account is well accounted for. Once everything is settled, you might want to read these resources about matching your transactions and reconciling your accounts seamlessly:
