Lost option to sort in Payments to Deposit Window

In the Payments to Deposit window, under Select View, there were two options with dropdowns.  View Payment Method Type, and Sort Payments By.  We seem to have lost the Sort Payments By option.  It disappeared.  Not recently, it's been going on for about a year.  If we log out of the company file and open the sample account, the option is there.

I have contacted Intuit several times and there does not seem to be a fix that they are aware of, they don't even have anything listed about this issue.  I can't believe I'm the only user affected by this.  We host our company file on Right Networks.  Both Right Networks and Intuit insist that it's something the other will have to fix.  The issue actually began prior to cloud hosting, so that's a bunch of BS.   Surely SOMEONE has seen this happen!  I'm at my wits' end.  Matching up payments for deposit is difficult if your report of payments is listed by sales order number, and you can't sort your payments to make selection quicker.

I appreciate you sharing your concern with us, DebAutry.

As I've tried it on my end, I was able to have the Sort Payments By option. I can see how convenient this would be for you to sort payments for deposits easily. I've added a screenshot for reference.

With that, this may cause some data issues within your company file. To help you enable this option to appear on your company data, let's run the Verify Rebuild Data tool. Let us first ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is up-to-date. This way, you'll always have its latest features and fixes.

To verify the data:

  1. On the top menu, click File and select Utilities.
  2. Click on Verify Data.
  3. Select OK when QuickBooks doesn't detect any problem with your data.
  4. If Verify finds an issue with your data, you'll be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors.
  5. Click Close or View Errors and take note of the specific error message.

Next, here's how to rebuild data:

  1. On the top menu, click File and choose Utilities.
  2. Click OK if you receive a prompt to back up your company file.
  3. Select OK when the rebuild is complete.
  4. You can run the Rebuild Data again to ensure there's no error.

Thank you so much for your response!  I did go through all of the Verify/Rebuild steps as you outlined below, and was disappointed to see that it made no change; we still do not have the sort option as pictured in your screen shot.

This has been a source of frustration for about a year.  Nothing we try seems to fix this issue!

I do appreciate your effort to help us - I will keep looking for the answer to this puzzle.

Not working after a rebuild too. It’s not an option. The field has been removed.

We have the same problem after upgrading quickbooks desktop. Definitely a real pain losing that capability. Moderator below states this is not a "known" issue. Well there are quite a few people on this thread that are having the problem. Hopefully the "know" now!

If I can remove Merchant Service Deposit I think the sort payment will come back.

Were you able to restore the sort function on the make deposit window after disabling merchant services?

mine has also disappeared.  I just worked with QuickBooks to start taking credit cards through Quickbooks and they update alot of things in the process and obviously something happened to change it.  It also is VERY difficult for me as some months we have hundreds of external credit card payments I have to record and then batch by day which is a nightmare going through them all to find the ones for that day.

Si I realize it is sorting according to payment type by default.  I have to make all my external credit card payment visa or master card which will then sort by date.  Sad we have to find a  work around after ALL the money we pay annually now to have QuickBooks and so many things don't work,  I also lost my ability to do a credit memo from an invoice and after several hours on the phone with Quickbook nothing has changed!  Very frustrating!
