Question

Major entry error on multiple line items changing "TYPE" of transaction. Possible to undo?

After entering a new transaction, attempted to change the single line item transaction TYPE to PERSONAL from BUSINESS. Inadvertently checked the box to select the entire column which changed thousands of correctly categorized line items to personal. Is there was way to undo this change or revert to a previous version? It looks like some of the reports are still showing some business transactions at this point but it may not be that way for long. I have not made any attempts to change any other line items or anything else since the error. Fingers crossed someone out there has a good solution to this. Thanks for your help.

Hello, markcarter1488.

I'd like to help you correct the categorization error on your transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

We're unable to undo the transactions to the previous categorized types (revert the changes directly). What we can do is to determine each incorrectly categorized transactions, then manually tag them under the correct type (Business or Personal).

Simply check the transactions that were supposed to be categorized as Personal or Business, then tag them in batches.

To prevent the same issue from happening again, we can avoid using the check box column when dealing with a single transaction.
